We are committed to the development of the whole child. In order to become enterprising, independent citizens, who will thrive in the challenges of the 21st Century global community, we provide an unrivalled range of enrichment opportunities for our students.

Throughout their seven years at The City of Leicester College, our students experience a wide range of trips, residentials and visiting speakers to enhance their learning in the curriculum.

Students who are interested in Music, Drama and Dance will thrive in our College Productions, College Band and excellent Music Tuition. Students have the opportunity to perform at professional venues such as O2, Upper Brown Street Theatre and Curve as well as taking part in trips to London, Dublin and New York!

For students interested in Sport, there are plenty of successful sports teams and coaching to choose from for boys and girls including: football, cricket, basketball, badminton, swimming, athletics and boxing.

To support students’ development in Languages, there are regular trips to France and Spain; there is the Young Chef of the Year competition, which our students have won for two years in a row; there is the National Starpack Design Awards, which our students have won for the past four years; and there is the Junior and Senior Maths Challenge in which our students continue to push themselves and thrive.

Regular visits to Universities for workshops and seminars, including Oxford, Cambridge, DMU, Leicester and Loughborough, are at the heart of raising students’ aspirations; and for those willing to challenge themselves physically and mentally there is the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

And at lunchtimes, students can attend a range of clubs including: ICT, Music, Environmental Club, Games, Languages, Debating, E-Magazine and Science Club.

In addition to all of the above our Sixth Form students have many additional enrichment opportunities which are developed to specifically support their career and university aspirations.

Whether a student has a particular skill or interest, or wants to develop new skills, there is a wealth of opportunities waiting to be explored.

Students will get informed in their assembly on how to record/log their extra-curricular hours in their planners for a chance to win a FREE trip to Planet Bounce, as well as other prizes throughout the year for recording/logging their extra hours.
