How To Apply

The college uses PS16 for applications.  Students are introduced to this system via PSHE lessons.

If your school does not use PS16 or you are applying from outside the city you should apply directly to the college via our application form below.

THE TIME SCALE FOR APPLICATIONS INTO THE SIXTH FORM IS INDICATED BELOW:

Stage 1: September, October

Do your research

Find out about the different courses offered. There will be an open evening in November when you talk to teachers about the different courses. We strongly urge you to research beyond Sixth Form looking at qualifications required for different career avenues or university choices.

 

Stage 2: November, December, January

Apply via PS16 or by completing the application form available at the top of this page.

Submit an application form with your predicted grades, personal statement and subject choices clearly indicated on it.

The deadline for applications is 31st January.

 

Stage 3: February, March

Interviews

You may be interviewed. This is to ensure that your option choices are realistic and fit with your future aspirations. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions.

 

Stage 4: March, April 

Letters of Acceptance will be emailed to successful applicants via PS16.

May is the final date for students to confirm a place.

 

Stage 5: May, June

Invitations to the Yr 12 induction Day will be emailed via PS16.  The Induction day takes place during the penultimate week of the summer term.

August: Results published

Once you have your results you can finalise your post-16 options on return to sixth form in September.

Please note any changes at this late stage need to fit within the blocks.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND CRITERIA

Our Sixth Form Admission numbers are limited and approximately 60% of those are likely to be students who are currently studying at The City of Leicester College in Year 11.

Our criteria for making an offer will then be based on:

  1. Meeting the minimum attendance requirement of 90%
  2. Receiving a positive, supportive reference

If the Sixth Form is oversubscribed, or a course becomes oversubscribed, we will base selection on the following selection criteria:

  1. Children in Public Care (Looked After children)
  2. Students who have been studying at The City Of Leicester College in Year 11
