For many students this will be the start of a two year programme leading towards examinations at the end of Year 11. Students will begin studying on a more ‘personalised’ programme – having chosen ‘option’ subjects in Year 9. GCSEs, vocational programmes, Diplomas and wider skills are some of the variety of courses that students can study. For some this may involve studying certain subjects at another college [usually Leicester College] but for the vast majority of students study will remain at our College.
Our Form Tutors will be working with their students to ensure that they are making the progress that we expect – progress in both academic and social terms. Regular monitoring takes place and there will be several opportunities during the year to discuss your son or daughter's progress.
During the year students will be encouraged to study a series of ‘Themes’ which will widen their appreciation of our local, national and international world. In addition, students will be picking up vital research, team working and presentation skills as they demonstrate their work to others in their year. The key Themes for the year will revolve around the areas of “Respect and Contribute”, “Our World –our Future” and “Keep Healthy –Keep Safe”.
You will see below the pastoral team that will be supporting your child.
